Rock Wall Wines

Rock Wall wines based in the Bay Area holds some amazing parties. There were food trucks, DJ's, families, and plenty of wine for everyone. This particular event was held during Fleet Week, and the opposite view of the inside of the winery looked out to the Bay with Blue Angels circling above.

Thanks to Jason and the whole Rock Wall staff who were super friendly and a lot of fun to work with.

Rockin H ranch, Sid and Gigi's Birthday Bash!

Bay Area Caricatures helped Sid and Gigi celebrate 130 birthdays between them with a huge group of friends and family last weekend at Rockin H ranch, which has an airport hanger. Sid even took off in his plane and put on a show for his guests!

I brought along Bay Area Caricaturist Salah to help out with the big group. (His drawings below.)

We were such a hit that they kept us on an extra hour and a half to get in as many guests as possible. I think we added a lot to their event!

SHIFT communications, San Francisco

SHIFT communications is a PR firm in SF that had me come in to draw the team. They work with AOL, StumbleUpon, and lots of other tech companies. I'll be heading back later this month to finish up the crew.
If you would like to have caricatures of your corporate team drawn up from life or from photos, visit www.BayAreaCaricatures.com or contact me at JonCasey@BayAreaCaricatures.com

Grand Lake Gardens

I drew for this retirement community last month. The staff was insistent that they be drawn too, and so they also booked me for their Holiday Staff Party this coming December. The elderly people I drew were so appreciative of my sketches. Some of them were upwards of 90 years old, and had never been drawn by a caricaturist before!

Recent Commissions

In between the jobs I do on a weekly basis I often take on commissions to draw anything you can imagine. My biggest job recently was to design and illustrate the website for the Bay Area based company B2Foundry. They recently re-launched the site, with lots of new artwork.

That was a big project, and a lot of fun. I've also been taking on drawings of family pets, something I never thought could be so fun! I love drawing dogs and trying to capture their quirks and personalities. I do these sketches in 15 minutes or so, the goal is not a polished finished drawing, but a capturing of the personality and likeness in a cartoon style.

I also get asked to design wine labels quite often, this is the 4th or 5th :

The next one, below, was an usual job. They sent me a photo and asked that I use as few colors as possible. They then embroidered his face onto hats! I thought this turned out well, and is one of the more unusual things I have worked on. (Previous jobs include a drawing sprayed onto a birthday cake, drawing fainting goats, and drawing richard branson jet skiing with a man strapped to his back. People get some crazy ideas!)

If you have any ideas for artwork you would like to see, think beyond caricature! I can draw cartoons or more finished images of anything you have a need for. Contact me at JonCasey@BayAreaCaricatures.com

Las Vegas! Oct 3rd-6th

EventTOONS sent me to Las Vegas to draw for a Human Resources Convention this past week. You can download the images I drew at EventTOONS.com

It was an especially fun job, as I got the chance to visit with (L to R) Jeff Mandell, (me), Ryan Rhoades, Al Rodriguez, and Sam Gorrie, who are all amazing artists. Court Jones was there as well, another great caricaturist, though he had to leave to make it back to San Diego that night.

A sketch from day one. Sometimes you gotta catch them in action!
A sketch from day 2. I enjoyed the coloring on this one, he loved the drawing!

Here is a fellow who waited in line to get drawings by both myself (Left) and Ryan Rhoades (right).

I was saddened by the news of Steve Jobs' death during the trip. Like so many, I use his products on a daily basis to make my own living. His life is a huge inspiration to creative people around the world. He was an entrepreneur, designer, and most importantly an artist of genius. His work will influence how we interact with computers for decades to come. My condolences to his wife and children.

Tonight I offered my services to the UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation. I had a great time drawing for them. As a self employed artist, I am one of millions in America without any form of Health care insurance, so I am happy to do anything I can to help out those in need. It is a sad, regrettable, and ultimately embarrassing fact that so many of us are in danger of losing our livelihoods and our homes, in what should be the greatest country in the world for reasons of health care.

The right to a healthy life is a right, not a privilege, of any successful nation.
