Jamey Thomas took this photo of me...

Jamey Thomas took this photo of me back at Joshua's Bday Party weekend before last. His work is really unique and from what I can tell, he bases his style on the techniques of depth of field. A lot of the images go from extremely blurry soft focus impressions to "I can see every wrinkle on the knuckle of that hand". If your looking for a photographer and want an artistic element to your photos, check out Jamey Thomas HERE.

11-22-09 Lucas First Birthday Party Hires Bay Area Caricatures Artist Jon Casey

This was a really busy job, and lots of fun. The family had people enter their names in a bowl, and had a "drawing" to see who would get a drawing. I had to do 2 minute super fast ones to keep the line going. The Birthday boy here got his last, so I added some quick shading and matted it for free for them! Hope to see some of you all again soon.

11-18-09 Digital Caricature job #2, Alyssa's Birthday in Pleasanton

Alyssa's Mom saw me drawing live digital caricatures at my first test run at the Valley Christian Arts fair, and had me come and draw for her daughter's birthday party. Three hours later I had drawn over 30 caricatures of her schoolmates, friends at family, at an average of just under 5 minutes per face!

As a special thank you for being my first booked job, I am sending them a collage of everyone that attended. In the future I hope to offer this to every party I work for a small fee.

11-15-09 Birthday Bash in Tiburon Hires Bay Area Caricature Artist Jon Casey

Easy Sunday, one job in Tiburon at a fantastically decorated club. The people were great, and the kids were entertained by balloon artists, jumpers, and a great magician named Tye the Magic Guy.

This was a truly full week! Being self employed and somewhat of a workaholic, I am thankful for being able to serve as many people as I have this week. As well as working events Fri-Sun, I also drew a watercolor pen and ink commission, as well as a digital caricature of 20 people involved in a corporate merger. That one especially was a lot of work, about 40 hours in the week before, and I am looking forward to sharing it once I have permission.

11-14-09- 3 parties, 1 night

Part 1 : A birthday party in South San Francisco. I quickly drew every single kid attending the party (about 25 kids), and had time to get some of the adults done as well.

I got an email the next day from them:

Thanks for the fabulous job you did at my daughter's birthday. you were the hit of the party.

best,
leli

I only had 2 hours there before rushing off to....

Part Two : A wedding on Treasure Island.

Part 3: Ended the night at Kevin's 30th b-day party, True Blood themed. I drew Kevins whole company in one afternoon back in July (check it out here). This was a fun party, more of a perk of my job than actual work.

11-13-09 First Digital Caricature Job!!! Valley Christian Arts and Crafts Fair, Dublin California

After months of study, much needed help, and investment, I set up my 40" LED TV on its custom fabricated stand, plugged in the cintiq screen tablet, opened Corel Painter, and got to work. As I finished these first test run sketches, I had them wirelessly sent to the printer and the kids waited for their faces to appear. The large screen and technology sent questions flying my way from tech savvy dads, and the kids swarmed around me to watch. The fair ended at 9pm, and a little after 10pm I finished the last few kids who had patiently waited in line.

I look forward to seeing where this new direction takes my event work in the years to come!

I must give special thanks here to Angie Jordan, for her book Byting into Live Digital Caricature, available here. My Setup is of the best available technology connected through means along the lines that Angie outlined in her book. In the book there are gems along the way that allowed me to get all the necessary equipment in advance, set up, and work my first job absolutely flawlessly. Thank you Angie Jordan!

Rhoda Draws also wrote a book, on Corel Painter 11, which was helpful.

Also, I must thank Doug Shannon, And Marion for great work in this medium as well as inspiration and helpful advice.

If you are interested in having live digital caricature artwork at your Trade show, party or event, contact me. Future jobs this Holiday Season include gallery 444 in San Francisco, the MOMA, as well as San Jose Museum of Art.

10-31-09 Patrick Chan's Party for his 1 yr old son hires Bay Area Caricature Artist Jon Casey

Patrick wrote me a great review on Yelp.com : Thanks Patrick!

I was planning for my son's 1st Birthday and was thinking how I would entertain all the kids at the party. Should I go with the typical Ballon artist or go for something different like a caricature artist. My wife and I are very pleased that we chose to go with Jon as our caricature artist. He was awesome and they last for a lifetime.

We hired Jon for 2 hrs and he was busy from beginning to end. We felt bad we had to limit it to kids' only as adults were so impressed they wanted them too. Money was well spent having Jon as our entertainment.

I have no problems recommending him to anyone looking for ways to entertain guest at their parties.

Thanks again Jon and I hope to use you again in the future!!

10-30-09 West Campus High Halloween Party in Sacramento hires Bay Area Caricature Artist Jon Casey

Worked this job with Rene Pullido. We had the entire high school waiting in line for a sketch, and drew like mad men for 2 hours. They fed us burritos and pumpkin pie to make sure we would come back next year.

10-29-09 Bloomingdales Hires Bay Area Caricature Artist Jon Casey

These girls were on a study abroad trip in America, and SF was their favorite city they visited. I added a little GG Bridge to remind them, as this was their last day in America before returning to Berlin.

This is actually my friend's girlfriend, who happened to be at Bloomingdales this day. She has the coolest style and was a lot of fun to draw!

10-28-09 Intel Hires Bay Area Caricature Artist Jon Casey for the Halloween/Holiday bash!

The Cat here also runs Philanthro Productions, and had contacted me about the Make A Wish job a few weeks back. Her day Job is Intel, and she had no clue I would be there. The Bay Area gets smaller and smaller the more often I draw!
Jodi Carr, a multi talented lady I work with often, was also drawing caricatures there just after returning from a body painting expo in China!

Thanks to Angie Duncan for setting this up, I hope to see them again next year!
